Hand-picking of wild plants
and medicinal plants

At Boèmia, hand-picking wild plants has been in our DNA since the very beginning, and continues to play a central role in our business today.

Our experienced pickers harvest wild plants at their optimum stage of development, taking into account the weather and lunar phases. Each plant is delicately pruned with a sickle or pruning shears, in a gentle, precise gesture, preserving its vitality. This careful pruning encourages growth and allows them to flourish even more the following year.

All our wild aromatic and medicinal plants are harvested in sites of exceptional beauty, far from any source of pollution and preserved. They are certified by our organic certification body, guaranteeing their authenticity and quality.

Boèmia preserves biodiversity through the organic cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants in Occitanie. On our few hectares of land, we give priority to species adapted to the Mediterranean climate, harmonizing wild harvesting and sustainable cultivation. Guided by a deep passion for nature, each plant is pampered, from light hoeing to meticulous harvesting by hand.

Half a hectare, a family heritage, a mission: on this historic plot, we grow immortelle, lavender, savory, rosemary and thyme. A "semi-wild" approach guides our actions, from planting to harvesting with a sickle. Autumn watering and manual hoeing are our allies in promoting growth.

In 2019, our commitment has been extended with a new 2-hectare plot in the heart of the garrigue. Adaptation and mechanization are key to maintaining our quality standards. Over 2.5 hectares cultivated, more than 20,000 plants, 14 organic varieties enriching the 15 wild plants we pick with respect. Boèmia, a promise of preservation, respect and excellence.

More than 20 aromatic and medicinal plants, such as lavender, helichrysum and laurel, engage in a mysterious exchange with the copper of the stills. The choice of copper, a centuries-old heritage, gives life to rich aromas and prolonged preservation, reflecting the passion and science of our distillation.

Discreet, respectful distillation sculpts our essential oils. Each plant has its own distillation time for molecularly rich oils. Copper, essential to our small-capacity stills (250 to 500 liters), embodies the alchemy between plant and vessel. A distillation process thousands of years old, reinvented by our passion and expertise.

A constant quest for quality

Secrets and subtleties, the fruit of our years of experience, transform the distillate into a masterpiece. The copper essencier accumulates the precious essence, while the hydrolat drains away. The harvested essential oil is gently filtered in our laboratory, before being weighed, analyzed and placed in a tinted bottle. A month's rest, a respected ritual, to preserve vibrations and molecules. Dedicated attention from nature to the bottle, attested by independent laboratory analysis of each essential oil.
